The Daily Read: Perspective on UK2K

BTO will be taking the next two days off as the focus shifts from hoops to family.  We wish everyone a Happy Holiday and a healthy New Year.

From Basketball Times contributor Rick Bozich, Kentucky's 2,000th win is early Christmas present for Big Blue faithful, from the Louisville Courier-Journal.

From Basketball Times alum Dick Jerardi, the numbers say Temple will roll on, from the Philadelphia Daily News.

Minnesota's Royce White is still on suspension, from the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Having built momentum, UMass is hoping for a carry over, from the Boston Globe.

With a veteran team, poise in crunch time sets Cornell apart, from the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin.

Good things are perking over at Saint Louis, from the St. Louis Times-Dispatch.

In review, extreme highs and lows highlight Missouri's decade, from the Kansas City Star.

Washington-Gonzaga snit reinforces Seattle hoops hotbed, from the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

After some dormant years, Alford and his Lobos are reviving basketball at The Pit, from the Durango Herald.

For Illinois, Demetri McCamey, good things come to those who win, Peoria Journal Star.

Tonight we're keeping an eye on ...
(15) Mississippi at (6) West Virginia, 7 p.m. ... This is the first ranked opponent WVU has met this season (A&M wasn't ranked when the two met), and the Mountaineers need to a tune up before Purdue on Jan. 1.

Massachusetts at Boston College, 7 p.m. ... With loses to neighborly rivals Harvard and Rhode Island this month, the Eagles need this one.

Charlotte at Old Dominion, 7 p.m. ... The 49ers are 9-1 and looking for the same respect achieved by fellow A-10er Temple this week.

Rider at Siena, 7 p.m. ... A Braketbuster-caliber mid-major meeting.  Both teams could earn a win in the NCAA's opening round.

Milwaukee at Wisconsin, 7 p.m. ... The Badgers had better not look ahead to their Big 10 opener vs. Ohio State on New Years Eve.  A loss to Green Bay in early Dec. should serve as a reminder.
