The Daily Read: Getting Caught Up


The Daily Read was on hiatus for a short while as BTO dealt with some technical difficulties at homebase, but we wanted to be sure to pass along these tidbits to catch folks up on some happenings across the college hoops landscape.
In case you missed it, the Associated Press released its preseason All-American team yesterday.  The list answered the question of why Kansas is a nearly unanimous favorite to win the national title.  The Jayhawks claim two of the five spots on the All-American team.

Minnesota coach Tubby Smith announced today that senior guard Devron Bostick and freshman forward Royce White have been suspended indefinitely for “violations of team rules," from the The Minnesota Daily.  This is a major, major blow to the Gophers.

Former Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie pleaded guilty to DUI charges yesterday.  Meanwhile, the Wildcats' current coach, John  Calipari, is spending more time teaching his young Wildcats, from the Lexington Herald-Leader.
 
Though he joins a team with established standouts like Isaiah Thomas and Quincy Pondexter, Washington is preparing freshman Abdul Gaddy to lead the Huskies, from the Seattle Times
  

Kansas' hometown paper, the Lawrence Journal, warns that the Big 12 is more than just the big three.

Butler’s Ronald Nored came off the bench for the first time in 35 games, from the Indianapolis Star.
 
Who is going to carry to the load for Pittsburgh after the team's mass exodus of talent?  Well freshman Dante Taylor led the Panthers to an exhibition victory.  Maybe that's a start.  From the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
